Make a Day of It
Havre de Grace is one of Maryland’s most charming small cities—worth more than a quick stop. Here are some of our favorite things to do nearby:
On the Water
- Havre de Grace Lighthouse & Concord Point — One of the oldest continuously operating lighthouses on the East Coast, just steps from downtown. Free to visit, beautiful views of the Susquehanna flats and Chesapeake Bay.
- Promenade & Tydings Memorial Park — A beautifully restored waterfront boardwalk great for a morning walk or an afternoon watching the boats.
- Decoy Museum — A world-class collection of hand-carved waterfowl decoys celebrating the Chesapeake Bay’s hunting heritage. Havre de Grace is the Decoy Capital of the World—this place earns it.
History & Culture
- Havre de Grace Maritime Museum — Celebrates the history of the Chesapeake Bay and the Susquehanna River, with exhibits on fishing, oystering, and bay life.
- Steppingstone Farm Museum — A working museum of rural arts and crafts just outside town, set on a beautiful farm.
- Historic Downtown Walking Tour — The whole downtown district is on the National Register of Historic Places. Pick up a walking tour map at City Hall or just wander—the architecture is worth it.
Dining & Drinks
- Water Street Seafood — A crab house and seafood restaurant right on the water at the mouth of the Susquehanna. Steamed crabs, local oysters, and waterfront views.
- Coakley’s Pub — A downtown favorite for lunch, casual dinners, and a cold beer after shopping. Award-winning cream of crab soup.
- La Cucina — Fresh, from-scratch Italian food right on Washington Street. Great pizza, generous portions, and a local institution.
- Kooper’s Saloon — Classic comfort food and proper pours just steps from us on Washington Street. A great stop before or after shopping.
Shopping
Washington Street and the surrounding blocks are full of independent shops, galleries, and antique stores. Plan at least an hour just to browse—and don’t forget to stop back in to see us before you leave.
