Coptic Stitch Handmade Book - Blue and Green

Hand bound by book artist Patti Paulus. The cover is original paste paper in soft green, combed through with long looping lines that cross and double back on themselves while the paint was still wet. Each sheet is pulled by hand, so this pattern belongs to this book alone. The spine and back board are finished in blue book cloth, with blue endpapers to match.

The exposed coptic stitch is worked in a pale blue thread that picks up the cloth rather than the cover. It is what lets the book fall open flat and stay there, including on the first and last spreads, where a glued binding usually fights you.

144 gridded pages on 90 lb Mohawk Superfine, acid free and archival. The only gridded book in the range, and the heaviest sheet, which suits drafting, plotting, and anything that wants a ruled structure without ruled lines.
