Handmade Casebound Book - Orange, Gold, and Burgundy

Hand bound by book artist Patti Paulus. The cover is original paste paper in orange, with leaves and fronds pressed into the wet paint in burgundy and gold. It reads as an autumn hedgerow from a distance and as individual leaf impressions up close, and because each one is pulled by hand, the arrangement belongs to this book alone. The spine is deep purple book cloth, with a purple ribbon marker sewn in.

The book is cased in rather than exposed. The sections are sewn by hand onto linen tapes and finished the traditional way, with mull, Japanese paper, and headbands at head and tail, then covered so the structure is hidden. The endpapers are a solid orange drawn from the cover.

Eighty blank pages on 90 lb Mohawk archival, the heaviest sheet in the casebound range, at a portrait 5 by 7 inches.
