Lattice Bound Handmade Book - Pink, Silver & Purple

Hand bound by book artist Patti Paulus. The cover is original paste paper in pink, purple and silver, brushed by hand while the paint was still wet, so the pattern belongs to this book alone. The spine and boards are finished in grey book cloth, with a narrow band of blue and white patterned paper set along the hinge.

Pale linen thread crosses the spine in a lattice of diamonds, worked on the outside of the cloth rather than hidden under it. It is decorative, and it is also what lets the book fall open flat and stay there.

This is the largest of the lattice books at 6.25 by 9.25 inches, with 144 blank pages of 90 lb Mohawk archival text weight. The heavier sheet holds up better under wet media than a standard text stock, so it suits drawing and painting as readily as writing.
